YEAR 6

Welcome back to Term Two.

As I sit here and write this article for the first newsletter for Term Two, I am excited about many of the tasks that have been set out for the year sixes and a few that I have added in for this term.

The aim is to work with all Year 6 families as the year progresses. This can be achieved by having regular meetings, involving parents, students and class teacher, to discuss progress, behaviour and assistance with the Transitional Program into Year 7 for next year.

Let’s start with a few reminders:

What Are We Learning This Term?

English:

Novel Study: “Finder Keepers”
Writing: Information Reports – Focusing on using the correct structure and technical terms.
Comprehension skills: Main Focus will be “Cause and Effect”; Revision of Main Idea and Figurative Language.
BTN Foci: Note taking, writing paragraphs and presenting to the class (Oral assessment is cumulative over the term), collecting articles about news items to create a Media Journal.

Maths:

Number Unit 1 Foci: Multiplication, Division, Order of Operations. Assessment: Week 3
Measurement Foci: Length, Perimeter / Area, Maps, Time. Assessment: Week 6

Statistics and Probability Foci: Fractions, Decimals and Percentages. Assessment: Week 8
Number Unit 2 Foci: Fractions. Assessment: Week 10
Geography: Regions of Asia, Urban Asia, Rural Asia, World Statistics, Indigenous People.
World Connectedness. Assessment Due Week 8.
Health: Resilience, Cyber Safety. Assessment Due Week 9.
ICT: Coding and Robotics.
Drama: Videotogropy.
Art: Zendoodling.
